Power @#$%$&* Window
Here's the deal - it stuck down so I bought a new regulator and motor (when I looked down in the door the spring was laying in the bottom!)- I think I went by the faq paper for help - can't remember - this also said start with window up - it won't go up!!
Got the new parts in anyway and working fine just by trial and error, can now do it in about 3 hours, but 4 times now of having this thing out the same thing occurs - it gets stuck down after about 30 days of working fine. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch but am I doing something wrong or what ? When it's down the top of the glass is level with the door and up it is even with the car and it seals fine - it would seem I adjusted it right - it did take me a while - but I can't figure out why it gets stuck down after a certain amount of time. When I take the assembly out and test it it works fine
So here I am - seriously considering taking up drinking again, with a window stuck down, new motor, regulator, bolted in right and tracks cleaned and regreased, any thoughts before I go back in there?
Thanks, Bill
First if you put the spring on your self it one goes on one way...its there to help the window up not down. So in the down position it must be fully coiled tight. Take the motor off. With the assemble in the fully up position put the spring on. You'll need a helper. Judge fully up by were the last tooth will hit the motor gear. Then manual compress the regulator to fully down...it compresses the spring...while holding it in that position have someone insert the motor. The motor will hold everything together in the full down position. Again at full down one of the last teeth will catch the motor gear.
Insert the assembly into the door. Use the power to open and close it to get it in the right shape to fit into the access port. Attach the motor area with three flat head bolts and three lock nuts. By bolts just long enough to do the job. If the bolts are too long they will hit and bind. Bolts go on the inside.
Attach the upper parts of the regulator to the window and tracks...you know how to do this...bit of a pain...window slides on the regulator and into the track at the same time...
Us two bolts and lock nuts (same size as the other 3) to attach the upper part of the track to the door.Withe access cover and door panel still off power the window up and down until you align it.

How long were the bolts you used? Could they be hitting? Do you get a hitting sound or just loss of power. Sometimes the harness plug wiggles loose. When it stops have you tried wiggling the plug??

Should I take it out and adjust reg to motor or is it ok - I think I just bolted up the motor not paying any attention to where travel of the reg was. You do have to take out the shipping bolt prior to install - ask me how I know :o
