Need advice on body off?

I am new to the resto scene and noticed my frame on my 79 had some surface rust. I would also like access to replace brake lines suspension and rad. support. My question is how difficult is it to take the body off and do I need a lift or just a few friends? Also where can I find instructions on dissassembly?

I did my 73 a few years back. I used lift straps and come-a-longs mounted to a beam in my garage. Others have used the freinds method. http://hometown.aol.com/bmclau5079/page5.html

5 friends...

I posted this very same question a month ago. Some have used hoists, lifts, and friends. It took six of us to lift the body off. Just have a place for it and pizza ready for your buddies. After I made sure that everything was disconnected, it only took 45 secs to pull up and over. That was my biggest hurdle to overcome. Since the body came off everything else falls into place... Here is my progress, ask me if you have any questions.

Did the lift with with friends. Then used straps later to put it back on. There's a book and video by Nolan Adams that should help or I can sell it to you if you want.

I start my body off next weekend. Will be using a lift strap and chain hoist. I never had six or eight friends togeather that a fight didn't break out.

Used 6 guys ro R&R the body...simple and quick.

i just pulled mine off about two months ago.

did it solo with a come-along and straps.

i would suggest having atleast one friend over to help steady the body while raising and lowering it. that being said, i got her done solo and it wasn't near as hard as i tought it would be!

What site are you refering to? Also I know getting it off wont be too bad its just all the prep work that intimidates me. IE unhooking stuff. If anyone knows where to get a detailed instruction sheet that would let me know if it is something I should undertake.
