Default 73' turn signals dont work

I'm a little stumped as to why these don't work but I haven't really dug into the wiring yet. I replaced the switch (it was broken), the flasher, the fuse. The hazards work (so I know the lights themselves work). Not sure what else to try.

Check the Grounds. On my 73 every light has a seperate ground wire. I cleaned and made sure I had a good ground, and low and behold the signals worked again.

At first I thought it was the plastic cam inside the steering wheel but I think that just cancels the turn signal. I wonder if it's the switch. I bet it's somthing internal in your steering wheel.

Thanks for the ideas. Like I said, I'm stumped. I had the wheel off and replaced the turn signal switch and repaired the horn...still nothing. It could be a ground but would the hazards work if it was that (did yours work before you found a bad ground)? I was assuming that since the hazards work, the flasher is good and there are no open circuits (grounds) but I could certainly be wrong. My only other thought was a short somwhere in the dash harness.

When you say that the original switch was broken, did it still operate the turn signal lights? Maybe it just didn't cancel?

The reason I ask, can you go down under the dash and disconnect the body harness from the new switch in the column. Then connect the body harness to the old switch. See if the lights work with the old one. This might tell you if it is the new switch or not.

The switch was cracked and the horn didn't work (I think the horn accounts for 2 leads on this switch). Also, one of the hazard lights didn't work. All of this was alleviated with the switch change. I figured that this would possibly be the culprit for the signals not working but it looks like I was wrong. Regardless of where the dash harness is plugged in (new switch or old), the signals don't work at all.
