I have a C3 that I am working on that has an issue with the oil pressure guage. I had an old guage that was toast so I replaced it. After I put t5he new one in I go just over 0 psi. I grounded the sender wire and got 80 psi. So I bought new sender from Eklers. replaced it and same issue, just over 0 psi. I called them and they replaced the sender and I just installed this weekend and guess what? 0 psi. I have put a light sender in place and get 80 psi (Just ON/OFF sender for an idiot light)
I am sure the guage works, I replaced the flex circuit on the guage pod also. I have now ordered VDO sender to see if that will work, Any ideas for this one guys? Any help would be appreciated.
Apply air pressure to the sender and see if the gage responds. If it does, you either have oil pressure problems or a blocked pressure galley feeding the sender.
Guage responds when light sender is used, goes to full scale. I have held out the sender and started the car and oil was flowing! I had heard something about a resistor on the back of the guage pod on a post one time, I never had one of these are they supposed to be there on the 81?
OK, I read thepost and saw that you had an issue with contact to the resistor, I think I may have that type of issue, so I will check it out! Thanks for the help!
