P/S ram replacement

My P/S ram is leaking on my 72. I plan to put on a rebuilt. I've heard there is some adjustment to be made and is tricky. Is that correct? If so, any advice?

There is no adjustment on the ram. The outboard seal is a bit tricky to remove. You can't access the seal on the piston that is inside the assist cylinder.

The only thing that can be adjusted is the control valve that is attached between the pitman arm and the relay rod.

If the control valve was operating correctly, changing the ram should not cause it to require rebalancing.
