I'm using one for a 400 ci small block external balence on my 383. I'm not sure if it's made in china, could be, but I'm satisfied with the quality. It has degree markings up to 50 deg. (at least, maybe 60 deg?). Not race approved, but for the street it seems fine. I'd go with a fluid damper if I needed one for racing.
In Jan. I put a Summit balancer on. ( Part #SUM-161350) I haven't used it much mileage wise, but for setting up the valvetrain and timing it is awesome! There are degree marks clearly scaled to 50 or 60 degrees, and there are 90 degree marks all around for TDC setting of each cyl. I found that very helpful. Paid 51 bucks.
I got mine from the chevy dealer... I think it was like 80 bucks... works great, no problems. was on my 350 for about a 1000 miles before it blew up. now its on my 383.
I have bought a ton of Summit brand name parts and the only problems I have had are their bolts suck (foreign junk most likely) and their elec dist are not shimmed properly.
