When I recently redid my wheels, I noticed that all 4 were stamped with a small K-1 (with another "1" directly under the K-1). Is this a date code? How does it decode?
The "K 1 1" format that you posted may actually appear in a couple of places... Near the center of the wheel and at the edge of wheel (by the valve stem) are the most typical locations. "K" represents the manufacturer (Kelsey Hayes), the first "1" is the division (Chevrolet), and the second "1" is the year (1971 in your case).
You will also find a second set of numbers and letters by the valve stem. These will give you the month and day (numerical format - month on one side of the valve stem hole, day on the other) and a set of letters that represent the broadcast code for that particular application (sould be "AZ" in your case - Corvette 15"x8" wheel).
Thanks for the quick reply, Stan. Looks like these may be the original wheels for my car. :chevy I remember seeing the AZ, but didn't notice the numbers by the valve stem hole - I'll look at them again tonight. Thanks again!
