Default Heat riser gasket

Should a '78 L-48 have a gasket on the heat riser? By looking at some manuals it appears so and some manuals don't show it. I think I am getting a little blow by and I believe this might cure it, but I wanted to know if it should indeed be there.

Default good question.....

I just looked online, and only found ones for models up to 74.
So I'm guessing the heat riser has one already attached to it.
But I'm just guessing.......
Peace!

Originally there was no gasket between the heatriser and manifold
or between heatriser and exhaust pipe. I recently put duals on My
79 and did so without gaskets and everything is sealed off just fine.
There are gaskets available so if it will make You feel better, heck
use gaskets,sure won't hurt anything.

All of the Vette houses list them up to at least '79, though Checy only shows them up to '74. This leads me to believe there was an issue with blow by. I am getting what sounds like some blow by, byt the heat riser, so I fugre it can't hurt to add one. $1.89 at Napa.
