I'm starting to put it all back together, and (surprise, surprise) I'm realizing I'm missing a few nuts and bolts.
For example, I just assumed new shocks would come with the lower mounting bolts (I think a snapped a couple - rusty). Nope.
I have an AIM, but all it gives is the part number.
Is there a way on the internet to find out what the specs are for that GM part number, so that I can pick up a generic bolt somewhere?
Re: Any cross ref available for GM part numbers? (Ace77)
"Ace77"-----
There is no "cross reference" that I know of for the GM part numbers for bolts and other fastners. Most of the part numbers contained in the AIM are so old that it takes me a long while just to find out what the current GM part number is for them and/or their dimensions, finish, etc., if I can even determine it, at all. And I have a LOT of references available to me. Many of the fastners were NEVER available in SERVICE, even as GM standard parts items, so researching these is near impossible.
Dimensions for a few of the bolts can be found in the illustration pages of the Corvette Parts and Accesories Catalog if you have one available.

Don't you just love the AIM ... bolt, but no size. I've had to find another reference to the same part number, pull the bolt to see what size it was so I could replace it. :mad :mad
Re: Any cross ref available for GM part numbers? (Ace77)
The GM Parts Catalog in section 6, page 6-4 (View) calls for a 5/16-18 x 1" bolt. The 1966 and 1969 AIM have 3846202, the 1970 AIM has 3968521. Neither of these numbers match up with any 5/16-18 hex bolts in the GM Standard Parts Catalog section 8.900 (as referenced in the View). If I recall correctly, the original bolts had a "flanged" or "washer" head as opposed to a standard hex bolt. This would be to distribute the clamping pressure more evenly on the shock mounting tabs.
I would just pick up a few grade 5 (3 marks) or grade 8 (5 marks) 5/16-18 x 1 flanged head bolts at a hardware store.
What part number do you have? Maybe it's listed in section 8.900...
