Default long/short water pump?

How can I tell the difference of a short or long waterpump?
the water pump pullys is not correctly lined up.
And the pully's are standard GM.
Could i have the wrong pump in my -69?

thanks

i'm not sure...but the short pumps actually look longer...and the c-3's use the short 3/4 pumps....at least from 71' up....i also believe the short or long refers 2 the deminsions from the block surface 2 the hub....someone else will back me up here....

The short pump is about 5.75in from the front face of the hub to the mounting surface of the block (not the timing cover). The long pump is about 7in measuring at the same place.

If you have the short pump you will not be able to put your
finger between the pump and timing cover. If you have the long
pump on it you will have around an 1 3/4 gap.
