Default Performance Parts

ok I am going to get a C3, not exactly sure what year yet but almost definitly a C3 within the next couple weeks. So I am going to have spare money left from my insurance check :D and am already plotting what I want to do with it. I am prolly going to want to spend 2k right off the bat on modding the car. What do you recomend and where should I be looking.

I guess it would depend on what's wrong with the car. Unless you spend a butt-load of money on a C3 in perfect shape with no problems (if such a thing exists), you should probably take the time to go through it and fix the things that need fixing before you go putting mods on it.

Things like, brake calipers, lines, master cylinder, clutch, engine problems, transmission problems, radiator and cooling system, leaking heater core, bushings, wheel bearings, trailing arms, differential noise, U-joints, etc etc etc.

Check stuff like that FIRST. Get the thing in good working order before throwing a bunch of parts at it.

In my opinion that would be 2K well spent (although you may need a little more :D)

You'll need the 2K to fix all of the existing problems.
Things like front suspension rebuild, rear wheel bearings and side yokes.

Don't worry --- get the car. But don't plan on "upgrades" until you have driven it for a while. That's when the little issues will pop up. Take care of those first, then go for performance.

2 1/2" dual pipes with decent "mufflers". You may have other problems with it, but it will sound excellent :D

Two things I learned the hard way:

Buy the very best car you can afford. Don't hold back a couple of thousand for mods or to fix it up. I bought a "project car" and figured I could fix 'er up with the left over money... NOT a good idea.

Drive it for a while before you jump into any major work on it. It'll change your priorities about what needs to be done, so you'll get more bang for your buck.

Just my 2 c.

ok so I will spend the 2-3k that I will have laying around on fixing the car. Looks like I will be learning about mechanics pretty soon. I dont know to much on fixing a car, Brakes and such I can do, a master cylinder is a different story.
