Default Another Elec. Fan question

I'm interested in replacing my belt driven fan with an electric unit. What salvage yard fan would be the best to look for? Would a late model Camaro unit work, and what would I need to control it?

just about any of them would work, the object is to get the one that moves the most air (CF/M) 2 12" would work, 1 16" would work. Don't let them jam you on the price, I had a guy in a yard here try for $80 for a used fan, He actually looked surprised when I laughed in his face.
Might be worth just getting a new one, with a little digging in here you can find them for $30

I hear tell that a 99 volvo fan assembly will bolt up easily to the corvette which also the shroud with the fan fits good and also moves good air.

I have this electric fan out of an earlier project which was an '86 305 Camaro. I wonder if it could be mounted in the current fan shroud of my Vette?

I don't have the wiring harness but perhaps I could make something up. Any opinions?

Here is probably the simplest way to control it:

A lot of people love the Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) controller made by SPAL. This typw of control varies fan speed with your engine coolant temp. If you use one junkyard fan you will find that you will run it full blast all the time since the junkyard fan may not cool as well as your clutch fan or some newer name brand aftermarket fans.

I'm using a dual fan setup from a 98 Corvette.

I'm not really sure I would have to research it, but it's out of a V8 Camaro so I would think it should be sufficient. I might look into the late model LT1 fans though, that's what I originally had in mind.

My car currently also has an auxiliary electric fan which I have heard is for when the A/C is on. Would both fans in tandem be sufficient?

Thanks for the wiring diagram, it'll come in handy!
What kind of switch is that?

I have the LT1 trans-am/camaro fans. Made a frame and brackets to mount it to the stock locations. Car is in the resto phase so its not installed yet.

I like that set-up, it looks great. How did you make the bracket to mount it?
