Default Keisler Update.

Saturday I posted in another thread that Keisler had sent me the wrong shift plate for my '79. So today I drove the 20 miles during my lunch break to exchange the part. I was greeted by Gene and he immediately asked if I was the "Bernie" that was both critical and supportive of them on the forum. He was pleased to meet me and showed me their new facility. I was impressed with the completely new building and the state-of-the-art equipment. The entire facility was spotless in every department. We discussed their parts availability and Gene informed me that they had found another supplier for master cylinders for better availability. They had also started manufacturing aluminum bell housings to provide a better fit and finish than the ones they were supplying from other vendors before. Another thing he told me was they were beginning to make the driveshafts to go with their kits to further increase availability and quality.
This is a new facility, much like a custom shop you would find building custom products for a special market; and that is exactly what they are.
They are in a new building using new equipment and changing processes to raise the quality of their product and increase the supply of needed components needed to supply their demand.
I also met Richard and several others; and they all are genuinely interested in taking better care of their customers.
Are they where they need to be? They will tell you they are not; but from what I have seen they are making a concentrated effort to eventually provide quality service for their quality products.
Will I be critical of them in the future? Prpbably; but I will also be sempathetic to their efforts to, not only grow their business, but to improve it as well.

So they will sell the shifter plate separate, and how much was it?

Although it hasn't been ordered yet, I will be installing a Keisler 5 speed in my buddies 69. It is exciting to know they are working out of a new shop.

Our trans won't be ordered for a few months, but I am already getting excited about installing it.

I put a ROD 6 in my 69 and had a ball doing that. This should be a blast too.

You buying a perfect fit kit? It'll be a breeze for you. Probably sleep through it.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been involved in a 6-Sigma project working on the exact same issues with our company. I spent the last two days and evenings training people from six locations how to improve processes to achieve better product service and avaiability complete with an operations manual outlining the critical steps to achieve the goals we intend to reach. It was a pleasure to visit with the people at Keisler and to see the money and effort they are spending to grow their business and improve their service.

Hey, I'll put in a plug for the folks at keisler too. I worked with Rob Hall and got my 5spd and all parts with great service. They are sitting right next to my 82 and I just gotta find the time to install them.
