Power valve failure symptoms?

Power valve failure symptoms?
What would be the symptoms if the power valve fails? When and how would I notice that?
During a long road trip suddenly my car started acting strange. When idling all ok, when slowly accelerating all ok until some 2500rpm, when cruising steady around 2500 all ok. But when slightly starting to add speed from 40miles cruising speed for example it starts hesitating, when adding slightly gas still hesitating more and when adding gas even more it suddenly starts going like no problems...
Of corce it might be some junk somewhere also?...

Meanwhile I have been reading several troubleshooting papers and figured out that maybe this problem should not be about power valves since arent they coming into picture maybe a bit later?
Could it be rather small junk partly blocking the idle circuit or junk in transition circuit? Or even junk in main circuit...
