Pedro- My original insulation was that way but the replacements have a side similar to the OEM and a side that is black and finished- has some sort of a covering sheet over the fiberglass making it smooth.
I believe thats the way it's supposed to be, with the nice black finished side up and the fuzzy fiberglass down. My replacement from GM Resto was the same way. I didn't like it at first, but I put it on anyway and it looks real good. Don't be disappointed if the new stuff you get back from Ecklers is exactly the same way!
Just replaced my hood insulation and was baffled by the black and yellowish unfinished side. I thought the black smooth side was to face out but later determined that the rough yellowish side faces out. By the way, in addition to the metal retainers do I need to spray 3M adhesive on the hood to aid in holding the insulation in place?
