Default 383 mistake ???????

Ok you technical guys - need to pick your brains before I make an expensive ****-up.

My 81 was played with in Japan. Only things I can see are single plane and holley. The box might have a shift kit in it - difficult to tell. If not, then its misbehaving !!
Also has vacumn advance distributor,
Computor gone.

Anyway, I am looking at this kit available in the UK.

http://grannysspeedshop.co.uk/catalo...roducts_id=248

On top of that I have already bought ;

Headers - for true duals.
58cc Alloy heads.
Comp cams roller rockers
Edelbrock performer.
Torque plus intake gaskets.
Crane cam, says blueprint 100 on the box., also has numbers 968711 and A5828.

So will a combination of these items produce a prince or pig ???

Have no carb yet but was thinking of a Rochester.
All help please
Regards,
Hugo.

Cam is not enough for a 350, blueprint of 327 300HP cam, like L-48 cam.

Unless the pistons are deep-dished, you won't be able to use the 58cc heads. The compression ratio would be too high for pump gas. If the engine has flat top pistons, 64-72cc heads would work. That cam is way too small for a 383, IMO. G/L

What sort of compression would I get - was thinking about 10.5 to 1 ??
Which is OK with UK gas.

The 383 kit comes with a cam as well - probably the right one....

We need more info to find the c.r., like the bore, stroke, rod length, piston dome/dish volume, head gasket thickness, deck height. Using my 383 set-up and 58cc heads, I come up with 12.76:1 cr.

Have just sent a email to the 383 kit people asking for all info possible - hopefully they will respond quickly - if they want my money.
