I need a Muncie expert
I’ve got a 1966 Muncie M20. Problem is that the main bearing at the very front of the tranny is shot. This is the bearing that is held in place by the bearing retainer. The info from my existing bearing is; # 41307B the company name is New Departure. Specs on this are .670” thick by 1.375” I.D. by 3.150” O.D. The part number cross references to N1307L. This bearing specs out the same except for the thickness is .820”. This is too thick and when installed the back side hits the front gear on the countershaft. I cannot shim it out as then the bearing retainer will not seal to the front of the tranny case. Any ideas where I can find the correct bearing?

Have you tried crossing it to another brand? Is N1307L a National part number? Try crossong it to Timkin or other brand. I've come across this before when crossing part numbers and they simply don't match up.
