Default Block hugger headers on a Vette

Has anyone put shorty, "Block Hugger" headers on a C3?
Just wondering if they'll clear the steering.

Yes I have them on my '81, yes they clear the steering, BUT, they do NOT clear the driver's side motor mount without modification. I got the ceramic coated ones off e-bay for less than $150 including shipping. I had to "massage" one of them right below where the primary tubes come together. I thought that may have damaged the ceramic coating, but I rebuilt the engine a year later and they still looked new, no rust. If working them a little doesn't scare you off, they are a great deal. The performance and quality is impressive, and you've got to love the price! If you want more detail on the install, etc, let me know. God bless, Sensei

I bought some off ebay as well for my 76, they were a little of a fight to get in there on the drivers side but they just clear the steering and motor mount. On the passenger side they just clear the starter, so u might want to put something like insulation from home depot around your starter so the heat doesnt freeze it up. But i love mine, and they are tight on the block.

What brand were these? I am considering Sanderson blockhuggers and was told they would fit with no mods required.

Any reason you do not want long tube? They will provide a bit more performance gain at about the same price

I've got 69 sidepipes with the fiberglass covers. I would rather not have to run the S pipe.

They are not name brand, but they look like they are probably from the same manufacturer as the Summit and other brand names. God bless, Sensei

Street and Performance has a set of block huggers that fit and clear both sides. They do their own coating in house. 479- 394- 5711

I have the Sanderson Blockhugger aka Shorties(?) and they fit great.
They are the ceramic coated ones. They are working out great so far. I only have about 500 miles on them.

Sorry I don't have any picts ready go.

Yes, I have them on the 76..chrome....had a muff shop do the work, they built a new, bigger (2.5") crossover pipe and fit it to the car....with a disconnect after the crossover to remove the pipe if I need to get to the starter....looks good

This looks identical to my set up, but on the '81, they touched the motor mount. God bless, Sensei
