Lokar/Demon..Full Throttle Solved
1. Check at the firewall where the cable attaches at the plate; I used the factory plate, and if you do, when you tighten the attachment nut there is about an inch of extra threads on the inside - these must be cut off so that the pedal lever can be pulled completely to the floor/firewall when the pedal is in the relaxed position.
2. After years of use, I found that my gas pedal assembly had been stretched slightly (about 1/2"). With the assembly in a vise, bend the ends of the rod inward (very slightly) so that the cable attachment end is about 1/2" higher when the pedal is replaced in the car.(If you have an automatic trans., you may have to re-adjust the kick down switch).
After making these adjustments, I had about an extra inch of cable travel. Now, at the carb, note where the arm sweep is about the same as your cable throw, and....
3. Drill a hole there and attach your cable end.
This is how mine came out.....full throttle achieved...see pic...
I had already cut off the excess inside the cabin but did not look at the pedal arm. Makes sense!
Quick update! No need to drill anything. I just moved it down to the bigger hole. I put on a small washer and tightened it up. I now have full throttle. The picture still looks like it is a little angled but it is a little off due to the camera angle. It is still way better than it was.
