Default Hesitation at running temp.

Once my engine heats up and I step on it it will hesitate. But only under load if it is in neutral it is fine. I was told this could be my heads. What do you guys think? (L-48) Also, I took out the A/C unit and I need to know the size of the belt that would go from the crank to the fan.

Well I've now tried a 36x17(to big), 36x15(to big) 35x17(to small) and a 35x15(to big). There are no more belts left to try and I'm sick of running back and forth to the parts store. Help me please I'm gonna go crazy.

I have a couple but they don't say anything about the belts, just the belt diagram. I took out the Air conditioner so now I need to have a smaller belt that goes around just the crank and the water pump or the fan will slip when I give it gas.

get yourself a string, run it around the pulleys you need it to turn, and measure the string. that should give you an idea of what you need.

It is 35. But the 35 belts I tried 15 and 17 wide were either to big or to small.

Somebody please help me I am at a stand still and have no idea what to do. Well maybe I could make a device to hold the belt tight but the right belt would be nice.

I've had 2 HEI modules go bad over 20 years and both were fine when cold but would misfire under a load when hot.

Might try a new module to see if that cures it or borrow one from another car. I always carry a spare since they're not too expensive.

I'll have to do that today after school. I was also told that it could be my heads not seating right when they get hot. What is your take on tha?

OK, forget about the heads, that ain't it. The carb and timing needs a bit of tuning which should take care of the hesitation issue. As for the belt, you took out the adjustment part of the belt path when you deleted the ac compressor, you can't run a v-belt without an adjustment. What ou will have to do is rework the belt system to get all the components turning.
what motor do you have?
what accessories are on it? WP, PS, Alt.....

If you have just removed the AC unit and still have your alternator belt in place you are fine. The belt will not slip. You cannot just run a belt around the water pump pulley and the crank / you have no tensioning device. I only run one belt on my car which is the alternator belt and have no problems with slipping.
