Im new to this forum. I have a huge issue with a 77 corvette at my shop. I installed a new fuel gauge and a temp gauge, new printed circuit, new temp gauge sender. The fuel gauge works great. A little while after i instaled the temp gauge, it began to blow the gauge fuse. And it only blew when i had the temp gauge in, so i figured the gauge was NOS so maybe its damaged. Then got a reproduction gauge, put that in, SAME THING! So here goes me testing, i can get the gauge to work on the fender by hooking it up with a jump box and to the sender, also i can get it to work inside the car if i wire it straight to the harness, but when it is in the circuit board, at the very top of the board it gets hot, and melts, and its not rubbed through either. Im questioning where the ground location is for the cluster, i beleive there are two. I have the 1977 mitchell shop manual im using. Im concerned that there should be insulators somewhere behind the gauges and they might have fallen out when i changed the gauges. I have 33 ohms from the ground wire on harness connector to ground, im a little concerned of that too. Its just a nightmare under the dash. Im am just at a loss, and my boss is ready to kill me, and we have ate enough of this car and have soooooooooooo much time in it, any help would greatly be appriciated, and also keep me employed, lol. thanks.

Sounds like you have a short somewhere along the wiring route.
I would just run new wires for that sending unit. HTH

You have to figure something is shorting the printed circuit. The gage only blows fuses in the PC, I'd bet there is a nick in the PC somewhere.
