Default questions for gtr1999

Gary, thanks for all of your help and knowledge on this forum. I enjoy reading your posts and learn alot from them. It is unfortunate that alot of the pictures from your posts are gone. My plan was to print them off but I never got to it.

My first question is could you post a picture of the press setup you use for pressing the spindle from the torque arm?

Second question is where can I buy shims for the posi clutches? Are they available at a GM dealer?

And lastly, where can I find the tapered head bolts you use for bolting the rotors back on the spindle?

Thanks much
Brian

Hi Brian,

Yeah I saw that I lost some pictures on various posts. I had changed around my host and I think that's why I lost them. If there is still interest in the steering box, rear bearings or differential I'll go back and post them again.

I have put together posi kits that have solid steel clutches,a full shim kit, washers, retainers, 2 bottles of GM oil and my instructions. If you're interested in one PM me and I'll get you a price.

For pulling a spindle from a trailing arm you can use one of those hammer tools and a 5lb hammer or set them up on a press. I still use the hammer tool to protect the threads when pressing or assembling the spindles. Check the fit of new nuts on the spindle BEFORE you assemble the bearings. Here is the press I use

Those bolts are 3/8-24 x 5/8" socket flat heads and you can get them from McMaster carr www.mcmaster.com

Good luck,
