Default need help removing strud rod shaft

I am working on swapping in a VB&P rear suspension kit, everything is going good but I cant get the shaft that holds the strut rod to the spindle off(also holds shocks). It seems that the strut rod bushing has bonded to it, anyone have any ideas for getting it out without killing it. I am trying to save the expense of 50 bucks a side for new ones

Option 1) There's a tool you screw on to the threads and whack it out.
Option 2) use a pneumatic hammer and or tie rod tool on the shock mount part and try to get it loose.
Option 3) Those 2 didn't work for me, so I used a 3 jaw puller to remove mine.
Option 4) Since you're replacing the rods, cut the rod through the bushing mount area to help get it apart. A torch, after the rubber bushing is removed, might free up the mount.

the puller sounds like a good Idea... maybe with some heat and a hammer at the same time.... I guess I am buying a new puller as I have needed one for a long time

Default Strut Rod

I have did many of these, 1st take lower shock nut off and get it out of the way,2nd take the cotter pin and big nut off lower shock support, 3rd take a pickle fork (tie rods or ball joints) with big hammer place pickle fork on big end side of shaft that goes into lowershock bushing and hit it... If it does not move, you have to burn out bushing, then heat sleeve that goes around shaft then hit it again and it will come out.Just be careful not to start fire and keep control of fire and heat when burning out strut bushing. Good Luck Leo

I got two new shafts at 50 bucks a side...the first one went in fine, tightened the nut and it seated itself properly... tried to do the same on the passenger side and stripped the nut right off of the shaft, I got some new nuts, and ran a die over the shaft... any ideas how to get it the rest of the way in?... needs to go 1/8th of an inch more..

I'll be doing this over the next couple of days.

I am installing a complete VB&P system, but am starting at the rear of the car to get this pain in the butt out of the way first.

hope you did not damage the threads on the new shock mount. Make sure the hole is clean and use lots of anti seize. it should pull in without using too much force.
