Default Header wrap on crossover pipe?

Just went for an hour long cruise and boy my feet are a burnin'. Was thinking about trying some of that pipe wrap insulation they make for headers on the front crossover pipe. Has anyone had any luck with this to help control the heat? Just put in new carpet with thick heat barrier under it and wrapped the whole top of the tunnel under the center console, helped some.

I had previously wrapped my old headers and I can say that they work unbelievably well. I don't know if you'd see as much heatshielding on a factory cros over pipe as you would headers because the headers have so much more pipe to heat up then the crossover. Heat in the passenger compartment is a common problem on our C3' and you can see the lengths we take to improve upon it. Most new carpets don't get installed into a C3 with some sort of heat shielding. I would say that if you wrap your crossover pipe, the wrap will contain the heat very well, but it's effect inside the car I don't know :( , it's not too expensive & it's easy to install so it my be worth a try .

There were some posts several months back over on the C-2 Forum with a crossover wrapped with header insulation. The guy that did it because it was roasting his powersteering cylinder (I think.) His crossover went around the front of the engine. He posted some pictures.

If you drive your car in the rain and use header wrap you can bet on rust holes in a year or two.

Banshee is right about the rust problem, especially if you drive in wet climate or areas with high salt. But I have a wrap on my headers now and love the difference. I wrapped each pipe and it was a pain in the A**. Fiberglass eats me up!! I took a spin up to Washington after I finished and the cab was much cooler.

I found that soaking the header wrap before using it makes it more pliable and you can get a nicer tighter wrap without effecting the wrap.

Cat's probably bad. Throw out the cat & get headers & duals.

I removed the dr. side duct above pedals to side vent many years ago. This puts a/c to feet.
