Default New Holley Carb Help

Ok guys, my car is in the drive and not moving. I had the old rochester on my 76 and am putting on a 650 holley with plans to rebuild the old carb. The old carb had a hose coming from the master cylinder. My new carb has places for the PCV hose, timed spark port hose and one other small manifold vacuum source. There is no where to connect the master cylinder hose on the holley. What is the hose for? Most importantly, what can i do to get this working? Thanks in advance!

The hose that comes off your power brake booster. There may be a
place on your intake manifold to run the vacuum for the booster.

Your intake manifold should have a full vacuum port just to the rear of where the carb mounts. It should be a 90 degree fitting.

Which model Holley did you buy?
I just bought the Street Avenger 670 and it has a port for the brake booster.

This carb is amazing and all adjustments can be made without disassembling the carb.

I too have had problems with the Qjets and do intend on getting one tuned perfectly and back on the car as they are great carbs...Its just gonna take me some trial and error to learn how to tweak the QJet.

But in the meantime, the Holley is everything I hoped for and then some

BOB Onit Why not keep running the holley and get your moneys worth out of it, some day down the road if you want to put your car
back to original for resale or if the holley starts to give problems
then go ahead and spend money to fix the Q-jet ??

I got a great deal on a 650 double pumper from a friend. The carb sits so low on the manifold I am having a lot of trouble finding some sort of piece to screw in with the hose at a 90. I checked all the local autopart stores and then lowes and home depot. I couldnt wait any longer so I set something temp up and mounted the carb. First time I cranked it up gas came shooting out of the breather tubes. I set the float a lot lower and it was running ok in the driveway. I adjusted the idle to where it was fairly smooth but was a little too fast. Then took it down the street. When I get on it, it sputters. Mostly in the lower gears. I think I set the floats too low and its not getting enough gas now. I am going to try to adjust things a little more. I love how easy it is to adjust this holley.

Most hoiieys have a screw in the side of the float bowls. remove it and adjust the floats so fuel is just trickling out. that is the correct float level.

You need to set the idle mixture to get it smoothed out. Sounds lean from what you are describing. Adjust all the screws the same, a little bit at a time and you will get it going in no time. Give them a set amount of turn out like say 1/8th of a turn at a time until it smoothes out and revs quick. Also be sure to tune at operating temp so it acts right when you drive it!

Because I still I prefer the Q-J's over the Holley ( 2 entirely different animals)
Also, I want to learn how to tweak the Quadrajets on my own
