There use to be aluminum pans with fins, everyone puts a good
oil cooler on these days, someone like moon may still have

I'm sure the pan cools the oil a little. The thinking is that oil holds heat very well, and doesn't give it off very easily. External fins won't help much, because only the very thin film against the pan will cool. Internal fins may help a little because you get a larger area to conduct heat away. Larger capacity pans don't help, just take longer to get hot, then stay hot. I think a oil cooler would be your best bet. Much larger cooling area per oil volume compared to engine or pan.
