I'm full of questions! My wife says I'm obsessed.
Anyway, I'm liking the Summit $87 headers. (I know they'll rust by tomorrow).
If I put those on will i notice a HP improvement w/o installing hi-flow mufflers??
I'm not sure about the HP gains, but if you get them...send them out to be JET-HOT coated. They'll stay nice and it reduces the under hood temps. Shoot the works and have them done inside and out. You won't regret it.
Agree with the above regarding the coatings. Also, I'd go ahead and some inexpensive performance mufflers. Check Jeg's or Summit for some turbos,..maybe the Dynomax..not too loud and flow great.
HP diff of stock vs. performance mufflers? 10-15 maybe?..just guessing.

Regarding coatings: I thought maybe I could buy the cheap headers and when they rust out I could coat with that manifold coating. Or even buy that 1500 degree silicone header spray coating from Summit and spray it on before I install.
How much is it to have Jet hot coat them? I'm sure it's a better setup but keep in mind I'm a tight-wad.
I tried the cheap Summit headers on my Chevy 350 truck before. I lost an obvious amount of power and they started to leak at the collector and block after 2 months. This forced me to upgrade to a quality header. Got tons of power out of it and no leaks after 4 years. Suggest you don't waste you money on cheap headers, you'll probably regret it.

Are you asking about C3 SB?
Get Dynomax Cerma-coat or the reg. Dynomax. Yes they will help w/ duals even w/ stock Corvette mufflers though low restriction mufflers like Dynomax rec.
What Ganey said. I fitted Dynomax ceramic coated Headers (from Summit) & they're great. No leaks (but I did use expensive copper gaskets) & they still look as good as the day I fitted them. Be sure to richen up the mixture (or at least check it) after fitting Headers.
Mine had a stock system when I bought it (except with a "test pipe" in place of the cat) & I noticed a big power hike after swapping the pipes for 2 1/2" duals. I later changed the stock mufflers to Monza glasspacks (no restriction of any consequence) & didn't feel any increase in power (maybe a dyno would show some). I later fitted Headers & didn't notice any low/mid range improvement, but the top end felt much, much better. With duals & stock manifolds there was definitely a restriction at high rpms which headers resolved (once I'd altered the jetting).
Something not mentioned is that the cabin temps on mine decreased after fitting ceramic coated headers & stainless pipes. That's lucky really, I haven't got any heat insulation under the carpets & have junked the aircon
