Default Steering Column Help Needed.

Am having trouble removing the remnants of my old TT steering column bearing from my 76 Vette. Got everything out except the outside metal ring. Is it pressed in? Is it possible to remove it? If so how? would like to drive my car but pretty difficult to steer without a steering wheel. Thanks. Steve

I've had a column tore down pretty far and I'm trying to remember the bearing. It probably has a race like a wheel bearing that is tapped into place. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point. I ended up repacking the grease in the bearing and putting it back in.

The upper bearings are press fit into the housing. Jim Shea's paper talks about installing new bearings.
