Heater Vent Hoses? Don't Exist?

Heater Vent Hoses? Don't Exist?
Exuse my ingorance 
, havent ordered my assembly manual yet for my 69...
Are there duct hosing for the vents on the dash for a heater only equiped car or are the all hard plastic ducts? I dont see any "hoses" listed on any of the vendor sites....
I'm pretty sure I need to pull out the ducting/hoses and core and give a good cleaning, as It smells like mildew/mold and I think its making me sicl
....... Cant drive untill I fix that problem before anything else 
Also, not sure it the vent flaper on the deck panle is working correctly. Should it be closed or open when the car is not running? when is it supposed to open?
