took a couple of new pics this morning. Top view drivers side a-arm mount Looking from fan to d-side a-arm tight fit between fan and w-pump pulley A couple more on link in earlier reply.
Great pics showing that the bar will fit with the stock fan installed. It is a tight fit, but what isn't on a C3! Deflection is kept to a minimum. Can you feel any difference with it installed?
Bernie
I feel like there is a big difference in the way the car feels going down the road and around corners as well. Note that the tie bar is bolted 1" below the bolts of the a-arm. Thats why the 2'' base plate.

What guide did you use to pre-tension it? How much tension "twisting out" did you apply between the shock towers? Here's an updated picture of my brackets. Installing today.

With the car on the ground in normal driving mode, just turned the bar out BY HAND till it would turn no more. Lock down the jam nuts and you are good to go. If you use a wrench or set it while it is jacked up you will have to get the front end re-aligned. All you want to do is hold things in place.
Thanks Bernie...yours was the inspiration for me. Tell me...what differences should I be able to tell from driving it with this installed and tensioned vs not installed? Just wanna know what to expect
Norval and I talked today at lunch. He turned his until the bar was just pushing out on both sides and tightened both jam nuts. He did not turn the rod until the castor or camber was changed; just spread the bar until it was tight. I am waiting on my brackets to come back from being powder coated. The comments I get from Norval and others is that the front suspension feels tighter with more control. For 50 to 60 bucks, and some fun building the bar it sounds as if it is worth it. A large part of the satisfaction I get from owning the Vette is what I do to make it better and how I want it. Better handling, self satisfaction, and a more responsive, safer and reliable car makes it all worthwhile!
Your install looks great; I hope mine looks half as good!
Bernie
mine feels tighter with the bar. Doesn't feel like it flexes as much going around corners. Big improvement for the bucks. Yours looks good. be sure to post what you think after you try it out.
