My 82 has side-mount battery cables is that the correct style for my year. Not that care about it haveing to be factory. But I do have a problem with then constantlly looseing. and I always get that familiar gunk when I go start the car (this regreetable always happens when there people around saying nice car) have to get out fiddle with the cables tighten them get my hand all dirty with some sort of gue that in there.
I would check at a local parts store to see if they can recommend a locktite lube that might help prevent your terminals from loosening. Be sure your battery is locked down tight so that it isn't moving around while your driving.
Clean the connections up with wire brush real good . Might need to pull battery out of car to do so. A light coat of vasoline on the terminals will help reduce corrosion. You can get new terminal post screws from typical discount auto stores.
