Default @^&* wont start and run... update

Thanks to everyones suggestions on my no start issue..... here is the update.

Readjusted valves.

Removed #1 plug on compression stroke, and aligned timing mark to 0 degrees.

Vehicle cranks very slowly...... still wont start....had starter tested this afternoon at auto zone...........passed.

Had battery recharged last Thursday.

What could be going on here? The only thing I can think of the ignition system..... The distributor, coil, and wires were new when installed.

I rebuilt this engine in March 2004 and have only dirven the car only 440 miles up to this date.

I decided to swap heads installation completed in March. (Edelbrock RPM heads 64cc) now the @^&*! wont start and run. I also replaced the feul pump. I dont know what or where the problem is. HEEEEEEEEELP!!!!

When you say it wont start, are you getting any signs of ignition at all???
A mate of mine put his dizzy back into his motor, about 180 degrees in the wrong way, so it fired on the exhaust stroke, not the compression stroke (he is a mustang owner ). So it may pay to take out the spark plug for number 1, and place your thumb over it while turning the motor by hand. When you feel pressure on your thumb, you know you have the compression stroke. The same mate then put it back into the motor about 2 teeth out, and didnt understand why it ran as rough as guts.

The only other things i could think of are the lack of spark, or fuel (gas), or both, or too much fuel, flooding the engine.

So i would recommend that you check for some sparks at the plugs and see if there is any fuel being drawn through the carby when the motor is cranking over.

Hope this has helped.

I hope I can keep this story short. Two weeks ago I was ready to crank my engine (body was off) to make sure I didn't have any leaks etc. The engine would not turn over very fast even with me moving the dist. while I jumped the starter. I pullled the dist. and double checked my installation but still engine turned slowly. So, I pull the expedition up and hook the booster cables to the battery I am using. Still no better so I call gator79 and he says "you got no ground" So I cut the ends off the cheapo cables, install eyes and bolt the wires to the engine to ground it. Then the thing turns over properly and starts immediately. If you have a good battery and starter and it still turns slowly, check your cables.
