I've just about run out of time and patience working with my trailing arms. I've got two ruined spindles, and the bearing housings look like they've been attacked by a badger with a pickaxe. I'm also missing all of the parking brake hardware. So I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy some rebuilt complete trailing arms so I can get this thing back on the road. I've looked around at several of the vendors and prices seem to vary wildly for rebuilt old parts, or completely new parts.
I've been poking around eBay and found these -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
Has anyone used this vendor or have any warning for me?
I used this guy (Tylers Toyz). Awesome work. I sent in my arms and he rebuilt everything complete with SS P/Brk inards, Poly Bushings, Timken Bushings, etc. I think I only paid $300ea. Ask him if he'll split the shipping.
I've contacted Vann Steel to see what is considered a 'rebuildable' core. Mine are pretty crappy, so we'll see what they say.
I'm still looking, thanks!
One answer from me:
classiccorvettes.com
His CF ID is "tracdogg2"...located right there in TX.
Mike and Debbie Dyer are just regular people, EZ to deal with, always willing to help...and if you lived close to him, he would install them for you, and Debbie would feed you...they are that nice.
I am at the point in this car that I believe the only way to go is to deal with *real* people.
If its 2 bucks more from them (and thats a big *if*), it is worth it for the tech support they give...I might pay 2 bucks more, but I wll get $200.00 in info alone.
No; I am not affiliated with Classic Corvettes in any kind of way...I just got tired of dead-ends, and vendors that lend no support once the sale is done...or a vendor with people on the phone who have no clue what an oil filter is vs. a fuse.

You can't tell for sure what your core value is until Van Steel examines the arms. The cores I sent to them looked like they had been plucked from the deck of the Titanic, and except for 1 spindle being too far out of spec and 1 arm being bent I received full credit for everything else.
The rebuilt arms I received looked brand new. Almost too good to put on the car.

I agree with this one. Mike has done a lot of work for me and I am gearing up to have him to do my trailing arms too...Can't go wrong here...
Cool! I'm checking them out now!
I really do hate to weenie out on this little project, but I've got so little time to work on my car these days, I just don't want to spend a lot of time and do it wrong, or find out that my parts weren't good to begin with. I guess my $1000 for tires and wheels just got re-allocated!
Van Steel rebuilt the t-arms and bearing assemblies (separately, at different times... my choice) on my '80 L48 and then I took the complete t-arm/bearing assemblies from my '69 L46 and had rebuilt by them also. Also, Van Steel rebuilt my half shafts on both cars. Very pleased with the quality and price. Also picked up a pair of brake rotors for the '69 @ approx $50 each early 2005 from Van Steel; Very happy customer!

THIS GUY IS FABULOUS AND CHEAP!!! He reigns in southern Wisconsin and is easy to deal with on the phone!! The shipping is FREE with paid rebuild for $300 a side (see his ebay add by typing in 'corvette trailing arm'). DOES MAGICAL WORK!!!
I am on the end of the conversation, but I have a set of (great condition) trailing arms from a 72 vette. Just replaced them with offset trailing arms.
If you want the trailing arms done right contact Gary (member name is gtr1999). He just finished mine and they look awesome. He also keeps you posted with emails and sends you pics during his rebuild. He's got lots of experience and goes the extra mile for you.
Well, I ended up getting the ones from Tylersparts on eBay. I really liked the idea that I get to keep my old parts, and as time allows rebuild them myself to get some practice. I was just going to be out too much cash if no one would take my cores. I really do appreciate all the input.
