My '82 is pretty damn comfy. It's my daily driver - with the glass tops I have 2"-3" of headroom, and I'm 6'3". (I know you're 6'7" or something like that.) I'd say you would probably fit fairly well, but I'd find someone with a '78-'82 to sit in and see.

I might be. I don't know.
I didnt think of it until I got a summit catalog, and saw a digidash available for the 78-82..
I rode in PacinCa's 78 Pace car. Rode much nicer than my 86. I had some room in the passenger side.

78 Pace Car #173 has the best seats of all cars from 78-82.
78 w/ Pace Car seats or 79-82 with glass tops have the most headroom.
Some 80+'s have power seats, but they really aren't necessary as the only option is moving them front and back, and my seat is back all the way all the time.

They're nice, cheap, easy to mod (except for the '82, of course.) Don't let a little thing like headroom get in your way! :D
If you're seriously looking, and want to mod, go for a '78 (PC) - '80 or '81. If you want something that gets decent gas mileage, has fuel injection and can be driven a lot.. look at a low-mileage '82. (They *CAN* be modded, they're just more difficult to coax the power out of.)

I'd rather have a carb than crossfire ..
a pace car would be awesome, but I dont wanna spend that much.

I bought my 1980 as it was the last year before computer controls took over engine management. 1980 was also the year that they corrected any problems they encountered with the 1978 and 1979. Different body styles as well.

I'm 6'5" 220 and I have no trouble getting comfortable in my 82. My buddy has a 77. It could just be my mind set, but I think mine has more room than his.
P.S. What's wrong with x-fire. Mine runs like a bat outta %*#), and gets >20mpg at the same time. Carbs are great, for boat anchors.

My '80 is very comfortable. Plenty of head and leg room for me. It is like sitting in a recliner.

Heck, just get whatever year appeals to you and put the later seats in it. I've got a '78SA and it now has '79 seats in it. Very comfortable, though I still can't get used to the fact that you can't adjust the seat backs at all.

Don't get me wrong - I love my CrossFire, and it can be made into a pretty fast runner (but it does have it's limits) - changing jet sizes for $10 is a LOT cheaper and simpler than buying an EPROM burner, ALDL scanner setup, new ECM, pigtail, chips, etc.
I and *several* other people have tried to bring everyone all the information together required to truly mod a CrossFire and make it run well, but simplicity compared to a carb is still severely lacking. Even if you have it professionally done, you can build up a really nice engine, send your carb off to The Carburetor Shop and have it calibrated for around $200 I believe. That's a LOT cheaper than all the stuff required to mod a CrossFire, and *you* don't have to do it!
Quite frankly I don't blame him for not wanting to mess with it. I do it because it's a challenge and I enjoy it.

Although this isnt about the interior room.... I got my 82 vette's engine dissed. I don't mind the computer and fuel injection, because I can do more to my car than you can without failing emmissions. I have true duals/headers, a souped up comp chip (which does help hp), Underdrive pulley, badass ignition, and my car runs cleaner than it did stock.
I spent less than $2,500 (kind of alot... but not for my results) on it, but it was WELL worth it.
I think that all corvettes can be modified at a decent price. Its the ricers that cost the big bucks.... with their red/yellow windshield wipers and fat tailpipe (singular).
I think the 80-82 bodystyle has the most room, because it was basically the same SIZE engine, but they got expanded in size a little in 80.

Any suggestions on how to get more head room? I'm 6'3" and I still have to slouch a little to keep from hitting my head on the glass tops.
