Default Big block half shafts

I have a 70 manual 454. I assume rear is all original, though one of the threads in yolk exiting the diff is gone and someone has used a longer bolt and nut for the cap.

Car will only ever run street 255 yoko tyres, may try it one or two times at strip, but essentially its a street car.

Looking for easy upgrades on the half shafts as I hear the unis are weak links. Present unis have grease points. I read that weakens them. Does anyone know the correct part and # to replace them with something stronger?

I see the dragvette site lists 3" half shafts (when available). Are these shafts likely to be better than mine? Do I need a better shaft or just a better uni? Freight on items like this to Australia will be more than the item, so if I could just replace the unis it would be great.

I'd go with the 3" Half-shafts w/flnages & have Steve(Dragvette) install you the Spicer Life HD joints, then you will be set for a long time. This is what I used and very pleased. Have Steve measure the half-shafts before he ships them way to Australia to make sure they are the correct length/matched set. One of the two he sent me was about a 1/4" shorter (Manufacturing error). these are made by Dana/Spicer.

If you decide to swapout just the u-joints be careful casue the flange can bend easy, then you are screwed. that's why I suggest going with preassembled units.
