i guess it depends on what car you're driving really. i mean i'd always get busted for all kinds of stuff when i'd be driving a vette or camaro. but i get away with just about everything when i'm in my junky daily driver buicks. i'm in college, so i know plenty of people with little money and car problems. one of the more common problems is for their muffler to rust out or fall off. i just tell them all the same thing when they come to me to fix it...."what do you want, money or a quiet car?". i'll just clamp or weld them up a straight pipe and forget the muffler. i've know quite a few people who've done this and ive done for them. nobody that i know of gets busted for it...i've known a few people who got warned about their loud hotrod. but i dont recall anyone ever getting a ticket or any actual trouble for it.
