Ok guys. The horn is honking when I turn the wheel. It started while turning into the Kroger parking lot and it made me look like an a$$hole. You know, lots of people trying to wonder why I was honking the horn at them. I disconnected the horn so no more honk. I know there is a relay on the column somewhere but would prefer to get specifics from you guys. Thanks for any input.
That is funny. Sounds like you will have to take the wheel off and possibly the column apart to find out what is grounding. It may be as simple as the horn button grounding out.

Actually it was funny. Even funnier is when it started. I was wondering who the a$$hole was honking their horn at me. I knew they were close and then I realized it was me.
If the problem is something easily fixed (like the horn contact right under your horn button) you won't need the following link. But if you are stuck, it takes you through a quite thorough diagnosis of the relay, steering column, horns, etc.

Just take your elbow off of the horn button when you turn the wheel.

I thought I was the only one this had happened to. I was pulling into Cub Foods and my horn went off pulling into a parking spot, only way I could get it to shut off was pull the plug on column. Tore column apart and found the same thing you did, also my turn signal was not staying on when turning, found both of these problems were related, the screw holding the signal arm into the column was not tight. Tightened the screw and reassembled the steering column, horn and turn signal problems both fixed.
i had the same problem, i gave the guy behind me the bird and then felt like a real jack a** when i relized what was going on, to fix it i poped the cap off of the stearing weel, removed a couple round things and put it back together, if you dont mind going with out a horn for a while... it worked for me
If all else fails, follow Jim Shea's advice. Look at the contacts closely and then use his procedures that he supplied you. When it comes to steering issues, Jim IS the man to talk to.

Had this problem on an 81 I had. When you remove the horn button. There is a little insulator between the two contact points that keeps the horn from honking when the button is not depressed. The insulator has come loose. Either re attach it or replace it. If this is your problem, which I think it is. you will see it when you remove the horn button and turn the steering wheel.

Funny, at the time my horn contact was broken so i would honk my horn by pulling on the turn signal lever, thats how i passed inspection, guy said Honk, I pulled the levy and held my hand over the button,
The horn relay is not on the column on my 75 but hanging under the dash right in front of the fuse panel. They are also cheap and stocked by your local parts store. Only $13 CDN
