Default Heat Riser and True Duals Help Please

I received my true duals from MAM yesterday. Removed the old exhaust and was test fitting the new exhaust. Looks like I will have to remove the heat riser assembly in order for the pipe to match up on the right side. Is this assumption correct? I know some of you have installed the duals on your car. I have a 77. Thanks for the info..

I have put true duals on My 77 and both 79s and did not have to
remove heat riser on any of'em. Why does it appear it will be necessary
to do this on Yours?

It looks like the heat riser has a built in doughnut gasket. I would have to remove the doughnut gasket that is on the new exhaust. When I took the doughnut off the new exhaust there is not an open chamfer sp? that fits over the gasket. There is a piece of pipe on the inside that the doughnut fits over, and the heat riser doughnut, or mating surface won't slide over this piece. Hard to describe.

Do not use donut on pass. side. Oddly enough its all metal to metal.
Originally there was not even a gasket between heat riser and exhaust
manifold. Most people put one there just to be sure it wont leak but
I never have and no leaks. When You get everything lined up tighten
the three nuts on exhaust manifold evenly and You should be fine.

Thanks for the info, and you are correct there isn't a gasket between the heatriser and the manifold. I was wondering about that also.
