I'm trying to confirm the carb hose routing from the charcoal canister and don't see the necessary level of detail in my Assembly Manual.
For the small hose that routes from the charcoal canister to the Holley carb, which vac port does it go to on the carb (location)? And which vac port is correct for the distributor advance? I think mine may be switched. Pics of the correct factory routing or scanned images from an assembly manual would be great if you have them.
BTW: 71 LT-1s should have the same routing, but I'm not sure about 70.
I have a 99% unmolested 36000 mile 72 LT1 with its original vacuum hoses still intact. In fact, the ONLY things that are not original to this car are the tires, battery, spark plugs and paint. Can I send you some digital photos of the vacuum lines?

Yes, please do e-mail pics by clicking on my username at the left. I sent you an e-mail as well. If possible, please remove the air cleaner and take enough pics from the passenger side and front/passenger side angle so the charcoal filter hose and distributor vac advance hose routings are very clear. The hoses should both connect to vac ports somewhere on the front and/or passenger sides of the Holley carb.
<< Thanks very much Gary!

TTT - Still need assistance here and hoping someone can help. Need pics or graphics of the proper factory hose routing from (1) charcoal canister to carb and (2) distributor advance to carb for a 72 LT-1.
I had mine hooked up a nd working perfectly a few years ago. I have now modded the heck out of it and changed everything. I'll see if I can get any old pics or how I hooked them up. Do you have the vacuum selonoid on the intake for the vacuum advance?

Currently, my distributor vac advance hose goes directly to the carb vac port below the front metering block on the passenger side. So no, I don't have this solenoid. What I need to see is (1) where the small diameter charcoal canister hose connects to the carb (not the one going through the PCV valve) and (2) where the distributor vac advance hose connects to the carb. I already know the routing of the hose from the canister through the PCV valve.

On my 73 the canister hose T-boned on the pcv valve. I bought a 90* PCV from 78 or later with the dual molded vacuum ports. Works like a champ and looks profressional.
Check the pic. The bottom hose on the pcv is from the carb, the top hose goes to the vapor can.
Cannister line should be on PCV valve BUT on a "T" fitting (Engine photo in previous post is not a LT-1 judging buy the 73 and later L-82 aircleaner with the PCV/Cannister hokked up with a "F" type hose nipple.) Line goes in at drivers firewall side and comes out of "T" fitting into PCV port on RH side of the Holley. I hope this helps.

If you read the post, I stated it was a 73, and that the PCV valve was from a 78 or later model. Yes, if your looking to fully replicate the original LT1 visually, it uses the T at the PCV. I was simply offering an alternative that provides the EXACT same functionality using a readily available part. If that's considered "hokked up", maybe you have a nice example of factory original perfection to share.

Two things...1. I probably know less about engines than most and 2. My '72 LT-1 is a lot of things, but unmolested it is not. So fwiw... I always thought that little 'plug' on the end of the pcv valve was strange, but now that I read your post I'm guessing that it should be attached to the charcoal canister.
I couldn't get a decent pic of the canister, but I can tell you that there is a line attached to it that runs down to and along the frame. Then there are two fittings that have no hoses on them, one is larger than the other.
Here's a picture of that hose attaching to the carb...
I hope this helps.
Now I have a question? Does it matter that the charcoal canister in my car is obviously not hooked up? Why would someone disconnect it?

Brooklinite - correct, your PCV hose should continue from the "T" on the PCV valve itself to the charcoal canister. One of the three lines on the canister comes from the gas tank, and I can't recall where the third goes. My canister was disconnected and lines plugged as well, but not sure why someone would do it. These pics show what I already know, but believe I have the info I need now (other sources). Will will post again otherwise. Thanks!
FYI: The pic in this post is what I needed. It shows the hose routings to the carb for the distributor advance and for the smaller diameter hose on the charcoal canister.
