pulling trans

Can the trans be pulled without the motor in a 70 ,if so what are the basic steps.the car is an automatic.Thanks

Jack car up so it is level
Remove front exhaust pipes
Support tranny on jack
Remove crossmember
Disconnect front of drive shaft
Disconnect shift cable, kickdown wire, speedometer cable and vacuum line
Remove splash guard
Remove bolts from motor
Lower tranny
Catch converter before it falls off

Reassemble as follows-

Obtain four-speed and all attaching parts
Install four-speed transmission
Smile
