I have a power drain that I believe is coming from my windshield wiper motor. I am removing it and having it rebuilt but in the mean time the wiper door just spontaneously goes up and down while I'm driving the car. The wiper switch has not worked for some time. What controls the vacum and do I need top replace anything other than the switch?

There is a vacuum electric switch that opens the door when the wiper switch is turned on. This switch is mounted on the back of the tach and has a power plug and two vacuum hoses on it.

check that switch. If you pull one of those vac hoses off the switch (or it falls off.... or it leaks), not sure which one, you will hear a vacuum hiss, AND the wiper door will levitate.
Had a battery drain issue in my 68 as well. It ended up being a bad wiper motor. THe park switch in the motor was constantly activating the solenoid and keeping hte wiper door up. The way the system is set up, there is always power to the wiper motor even when the car is off, so this solenoid was always "on" which killed my battery. Sounds like you have the exact same issue as I did, except yours is intermittent. I replaced my wiper motor and all problems were solved.
