Anyone have any experience running Canton Road Race pans on their cars? If so, is there any clearance issues (with a big block especially)? Any other type of hi perf road racing (as opposed to drag pan).
This is my motor with a 8 quart Road racing pan for 4 inch small block stroker motors. It's just a 3.750 stroke motor. You have to space the driver side power steering ram down from the frame about a 1/2 inch with a block and longer bolts. It also requires a mini starter.
Canton and Steffs ar really nice this is a Morroso because I got a deal on it and I can use it when I go to a 420+ ci small block.
I had the motor in and out 3 times for fitting is why it has a junk locking motor mount in the picture.
Thanks guys for the replies. WHen you use the road racing pans, do you also use the swing arm oil pump pick up? Do you need to use that type of oil pump? I am still not sure whether those types of pans will fit on my car with the big block with much modification.
I went with a ridged pickup. Because I have a oil restricted top end and I can not even get close to the sustained 1.68 lateral G's that I saw on telemitry from the C5-R driven by Ron Fellows at Sear Point Raceway.
With all the fore and aft trap doors and length wise baffles at some point you have over kill. I have never even seen my pressure gauge hickup and I normally only use 8 quarts and then install the filter so it's under full.
