Just picked up an 82 CFI that runs excellent for 96 K miles. Only problem I've noticed thus far is occasionally off the line it will bog and die. Its only happened a few times so far. Any suggestions?
Fuel problem? Sounds like what I am going through. My fuel pump is shot. (I think, unless I have a clogged fule line) I had hesitation and bogging under full throttle. Now the car wont even stay running. I pulled the air cleaner and was watching trhe gas spray into the throttle body. It sprays normal for about 2 seconds then goes to a trickle like its dripping from a water spicket. I pulled the fuel pump last night and it is an after market pump manufactured by Carter. I have ordered a replacement DELCO pump.
I would test your fuel pressure and change the fuel filter. The pressure should be aroung 12-13 PSI any less then change the fuel pump.

My two cents
same problem here, thought is was vapor locking, then thopught it was the fuel pump ( replaced yesterday) still got problem, fuel filter is 3 months old, pump is brand new, gonna check the lines next
Well I hope the fuel pump resolves my probelm. I think I will go ahead and shoot air through the lines while I have it all apart. Don't mean to hijack this thread but I would like to know what the fix was when you two get yours repaired.

sheesh
What do you mean by the same problem. Did you replace with an 85 pump? Does the spray still slow to a trickle??
I would get back to basics. I would do a complete tune-up. I would replace the spark plugs, Distibutor cap and rotor, spark plug wires, fuel filter. Next I would go after the oxygen sensor and replace it and then check the Throttle Position Sensor and make sure it is adjusted to the right voltage. The catalytic converter may be old and internally collapsed. I am the original owner of my 82. I hope this may be of some help to you.
Good Luck

Any chance it being the injectors? Local shop thinks just running some strong injector cleaner will take care of it (sounds to me like another way of saying they have no idea...)
Throw some injection cleaner in the tank and see what happens. Did they check the fuel pressure? Should be at least 9-13 psi. If you are around 9 or less time to change the fuel pump or fuel filter.
