Could anybody out there give me advice on who I can purchase a decent-quality clutch cross shaft from? Mine broke this morn. at 5am on the way to work (welded-up POS from ebay). My Zip catalog lists theirs for $95.00, and DocRebuild's NOS piece is outtasite ($170) I'm not running a 6000-lb. pressure plate or anything like that; I just want a good stock replacement piece that will last for a semi-reasonable price. AAA already hit me up for a $78.00 tow bill....Thanks guys
BIRDSMITH,
Unless you have to drive it to work every day, you should at least look into a hydraulic set-up. There have been a number of these installed and written up here. Norval or Twinnie have them I think.
Otherwise, buy the most expensive from a reputable dealer and they will tell you why it's dearer than others. Usually quality of materials, etc.
As appealing and well-engineered as the juice and cable setups are, I still like the simplicity and feel of the mechanical linkage, not to mention the originality (even though my car was originally a TH400) I've decided to go with a new piece but as we know all repops are not created equal, so I was hoping somebody might be out there that's got one that's lasted for awhile that they could recommend...I don't mind paying a couple bux as long as I'm getting quality. Thanks greatly for the advice tho John....will consider
