I have a 1974 Corvette but the tag on the drivers door jamb is missing. That's got the build date on it. How can I find out the build date? The last 6 digits of the VIN is 419032, approx. when was it built? Thanx

If I am reading My book right ,built in the last week of Feb. 74
probably on last or next to last day of the week. Someone Who is better than I am at this will probably define it better.

Chevylit is probably quoting from the Birthday Book which is an approximation for a build date. A build sheet also has an estimated date of production and usually the actual build date is within a few days assuming not major rework while in the factory.

You could also do an inventory of date codes which would narrow the approximate build date by eliminating all previous dates. You could start with your engine date code on the block, get your carb build date, tires, etc. An NCRS tech manual would list all the various components and how to read date codes.
