Default Trailing Arm Shims - HELP

I am in the process of installing brand new trailing arm assemblies on my '73. I was very careful to observe the number and placement of the shims when I removed the old units. My problem is this: I can't get the same number of shims back in with the new units as came out with the old units. I don't think there is enough clearance with the new bushings. Is this a problem?? Any advice would be appreciated!

Leave out equal amounts on both sides.

After new bushings, you might want to get the toe checked, then they can adjust the shims as necessary. If not, half and half will get you close.

And do a basic garage alignment becuse you'll want to take it and get a good 4 wheel alignment when your done. Since your bushings are new it makes sense that there is not as much room as when you were running the worn out bushings.

If you have a micrometer measure the old shims pack and subtract an equal amount from each side.
Chances are the new trailing arms are not the same as the old anyway.
You just need to be close enough to get to the alignment shop.

Great help guys! I have a 1/16" shim left out on each side. That should be ok to get me to the alignment shop. Thanks for the advice. I can always count on the CF.
