electrical gremlin-fuel pump issues
no matter what i did there was still 4.3 volts to the orange ignition wire. this made the msd run on as well as the battery drain. then the fuel pump decided to run 24/7. checked both the relay and the oil press switch. finally pulled the stock alarm and ecm fuses and no mor 4.3 but no power to fuel pump either. is there anything wrong with just taking out the ele pump, extending the pick up and going with a manual pump. its only a matter of time till the 25 year old ele pump dies anyway. and if so...what manual pump do i use. thankyou

You would have to fabricate the pickup tube for the gas and keep the same sending unit for the gauge. I don't know for sure if the fuel pump eccentric will be on the cam since it was an electric pump from the factory. You will have to find that out also. If you allready have a fuel return line in your vette, you might want to consider FI. Most of you plumbing and existing electrical wires for the pump are there allready from the factory. With my FI units I will be welding in the fuel sumps to the tank to elimanate these problems. Will still be useing an electric pump but one mounted outside the tank just below the sump, houstonvett

The vette is an '82, it already has fuel injection! I don't believe you can use a mechanical pump, at least not a standard one, not enough pressure for FI. I would trace the source of your electric drain with a multi-meter and fix that. God bless, Sensei
