Cable Drive Tach

Hello just a question here on a 72 with a cable drive tach, can I replace the distributor with an hei unit then replace the tach?

Yes, you could get an electronic tach but you can buy an HEI unit with a tach drive.

I'm facing the same decision. With the hassle of replacing the tach, I think I'm going to buy a tach drive HEI. There are some out there in Summit, etc.

yes you can replace the tach. I put a tach from a 75 in my 71, yours would be easier because you already have the white face gauges. mine are the green numbers and I had to swap the face over. yours would be a simple bolt in

I have the process of swaping out the tach face documented with pics if anyone is interested

I swaped my stock tach drive dist's out for an MSD tach drive dist msd box and msd coil. It worked out great but it was not cheap in the end.
