You all may remember the pics of my brothers 69 BB vert that he launched upsidedown in a creek back in 74. Well, a friend has need of a rotor so I dug out one of the brake rotors that I am pretty sure was on the car back when we parted it out. After some closer inspection, I noticed these holes which were apparently drilled into the rotor. For what, I have no idea. Anyone else have any thoughts why? I am guessing the rotor is probably now junk and only good for a boat anchor.
i bet that was drilled for balancing it ....i don't know if it compromises the integrity of it
Yeh, that was my first thought also. I checked the rotors on my other cars, and the other two I still have from the wreck and none have holes drilled in this manner. Can't believe it was factory! and I have never seen this before. If you notice, the rivets haven't been drilled out.

P.S. Yes that's him standing behind the car in the yellow jacket.

I think they balance in later years by driving short steel tubes in the cooling holes. If your friend needs it and its thick enough use it.I see those holes sometimes.
