69' "Gill louvers"
I have seen several vendors advertising the 68/69 front fender louver inserts as having the "Correct" argent silver paint .
Mine are and always have been (or at least since 77) completly chrome with no paint.
Also, I have observed other 69s with solid chrome louvers and some with the painted ones.
Are the chrome ones a reproduction or were there two types offered or has the paint be removed because someone liked the solid chrome better?
Dwayne - Paint's been removed. I posted this very same question when I bought my car since Bubba had painted mine body color orange (??). The answer from the forum experts was they are painted with argent silver on the inside and just the edge is left chrome to be factory correct. I think they look best this way since they are supposed to emulate the inside of a shark's gills.
BTW, was your car an original sidepipe car since it doesn't have the exhaust bezels/tips on the rear valance?

Re: 69' "Gill louvers" (Marks69BB)
The car had Hooker headers and sidepipes when we got it in 77' and someone had glassed over the tailpipe opennings in the rear valance. after the hookers and sidepipes rusted away to nothing, we replaced with undercar exhaust. I plan to replace the valance panel with correct one before painting (probably next fall).
BTW: I sure miss those sidepipes. The loss of power with the undercar exhaust is very noticeable. (Probably has alot to do with the muffler shop choking it with 2-1/4" pipes. )
PS: are your louvers now repainted with the argent silver? If so how did it turn out??
